Lagos FA Cup: Bolowotan FC, others cruise into Q/final *Awori United commends FA on standard

WorldStage Newsonline-- Nation-Wide League Division One A side, Bolowotan Football Club and other clubs on Wednesday qualified for the quarterfinals of the on-going Lagos FA Cup competition.

The Bolowotan Boys saw off the FA Cup giants’ killer, the Apapa Golden Stars by 2-1 in a thrilling encounter that was played at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium. They will now keep a date with Kelly Football Academy in the last eight of the competition.

Elsewhere, Fame Football Club scaled the hurdles of Nation Wide Division Three Zonal League outfit; AS Rascine beating them by 2-1, just as Mountain of Fire Headquarters FC defeated Sky FC by 4-3 penalties after the regulation time ended nil all.

Meanwhile, the Round of 16 matches will be concluded on Thursday as Union Bank will step out against God’s Own Revelation at the Onikan Stadium. Splendid Football Club will also have their hands full with C.O.D United Football Club at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere.

Menawhile, the management of Awori United Football Club has commended the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) for putting together a top class FA Cup competition in the State.

The Coordinator of Awori United Football Club, Alhaji Lawal Adams Adeniyi stated this on Wednesday during his courtesy visit to the LSFA Secretariat in Onikan, Lagos.

While giving his commendation to the Lagos FA, he said: “Awori United is featuring in the FA Cup for the second time but we must applaud the FA for organizing a standardized competition this year. There is no cause for alarm in any of the venues and the referees have been wonderful in their officiating so far.

“I must also say that His Royal Majesty, Oba Abideen Durosimi, the Osolu of Osolu Kingdom in Ojo Local Government who is also a football lover is also very happy with the Lagos FA for adding values to the round leather game in the State.”

Adeniyi also informed that the community had concluded plans to build a stadium in Irewe Town in Ojo Local Government in order to keep the youth busy with sporting activities.

In his reaction, Mr. Dotun Coker expressed appreciations to the community on behalf of the Chairman, Mr. Seyi Akinwunmi and the entire board of the Lagos State Football Association, just as he assured that they would not rest on their oasis in taking football to the next level in the State.
