Kaduna (WorldStage Newsonline)-- Unity Bank Plc said in Kaduna at the weekend that it invested over N10 billion to boost agriculture in the country.
Parading a wide range of products at the on-going 33rd Kaduna International Trade Fair, the bank’s North-West Regional Manager, Babangida Umar, told reporters that the agriculture policy had begun to yield results as various small and medium scale industries befitted from the programme.
He said that one of the beneficiary companies had embarked on the production of soybeans oil for local consumption and export, apart from direct and indirect employment opportunities associated with the various projects.
He added that the bank would continue to work with the organized sector, industry and agriculture in order to uplift the nation’s economy , saying that the bank was committed to the creation of wealth for the poverty alleviation of the people.
He noted that the bank had been repositioned to serve its customers better by way of rebranding for national economic development, saying that “this year, as always, we are in full capacity, offering full-fledged services from our pavilion in addition to the over 17 branches we operate in Kaduna metropolis and its environs.
“At the Unity Bank pavilion, as in all our branches, you can enjoy complete banking services. This is in keeping with our corporate commitment which is all about providing a welcoming and satisfying experience to our customers.

He said the bank was set to use the fair as a platform to introduce some of its services adding that that the cultivation of life-long saving culture had become imperative, along with the need to embrace the notion of cash-less transactions.
Apart from other internet banking options, Umar said that the “Point of Sales (POS)” facility made it possible for customers to transact business without carrying or paying cash.
He listed some other products available at the fair to include, Savings Accounts (general), Double Edge, Target Savings, Unity Kids, BETA Account and Holy Trip Accounts, for prospective Christian and Muslim pilgrims.
Besides, he said that the bank equally had an on-going promo with attractive prizes, including the zonal Diamond prize of N1 million exclusive for the Unity Kids account, pointing out that the bank embarked on the savings promo to encourage Nigerians imbibe saving culture besides the fact that the products attracts gifts of different categories to participants.
He explained that grand finale of the 2012 edition of save and win promo would be held on October 13, while there would be two zonal draws and two national draws in May, June, July, August and September.
He said that participants would have the chances of winning six Hyundai Verna cars at the grand finale. This, he noted was part of the bank’s preparation to serve its teeming customers and indeed to contribute in the economic growth of the country, pointing out that as long-time partner of Kaduna state, “we will continue to support its programmes and the people towards economic growth and progress”.
