Lagos FA Cup: Union Bank FC, C.O.D. United clash in quarter-finals

WorldStage Newsonline-- Former Lagos FA Cup Champions, Union Bank Football Club will on Tuesday battle the National League side, C.O.D. United in the quarter-finals stage of the State’s FA Cup competition.

The tie dubbed the clash of titans is slated for the Agege Stadium.

Union Bank FC that won the 2002 edition of the tournament will likely face an acid test from C.O.D United boys who are currently battling to gain promotion into the Premier League by next season.

C.O.D. United Chairman, Mr. Sola Opaleye, said they were on the history path to win the Lagos FA Cup for the first time since the club was founded.

“I believe we have what it takes to win the Lagos FA Cup this year and I want to assure you that the necessary mechanism to achieve this dream,” he said.

“We have equally recruited more players to beef up the team and I don’t think Union Bank FC can stop us in this competition. We have all the arsenal and we are good to go.”

In other quarter-final pairings that was released by the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) on Monday, Kelly Football Academy will lock horns with the Nation-Wide League side, Bolowotan Football Club of Ikorodu at the Agege Stadium at 9am on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, First Bank Football Club that won last year’s edition of the Lagos FA Cup will on Thursday slug it out with Yobo Football Academy. The match is slated for Legacy Pitch, Surulere by 4pm.
