Abuja (WorldStage Newsonline)-- The Vice President, Arc Mohammed Namadi Sambo has called on all Nigeria irrespective of religion and tribe to embrace and promote peaceful coexistence.
Sambo who made the call at his Aguda House residence when he received the president and national executive officers of NASFAT who paid him a courtesy call, emphasised the importance of peace to the developmental process of the entire country.
He observed that Islam is a religion of peace and teaches peace but that certain groups and associations use the teachings wrongly.
He noted that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan had delivered on credible elections and is committed, resolutely, to the transformation agenda which was on course.
The Vice President also expressed appreciation for the performance of the organization in the last 17 years in enlightening the Muslim community as regards to Islam.
He noted that the convening of a symposium of this nature was very apt as it “is coming at the time the nation is faced with security challenges.”
He also thanked NASFAT on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan and himself and promised the organization the necessary support it desires for the progress and development of the nation.
Earlier, the national president of NASFAT, Mall Sherriff Yusuf stated the purpose of the visit which was to confirm their solidarity and support for the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo for the good works they observed was going on in the political social and economic spheres.
The national president also used the occasion to thank the Vice President for accepting to be the Special Guest of Honour in the symposia and to thank him for the previous support he has rendered the organization.
He lamented on the security challenges facing the nation and the willingness of their organization not to fold it arms and pray alone, but also come out and enlighten the populace on Islam, its tenets and its abhorrence to violence.
On the symposia, he stated that they had gotten an eloquent speaker from Bahrain and other local experts like Dr Sani Lugga, Hajiya Bilkisu Yusuf and Nuraddin Sani amongst others, and that the Sultan Dr Sa’ad Abubakar III will chair the occasion.
Present at the occasion were Ibrahim Babalola, chairman organizing committee of the symposia, Alh Abdulazeez, Deputy Missioner, Dr. Lukman Adedeji, Shehu Giwa and Habiba Babalola Sulaiman of the Abuja Chapter of NASFAT.
