Arik Air denies merger talks with Air Nigeria

Lagos (WorldStage Newsonline)-- Arik Air on Saturday denied a report that it was engaging in a merger talk with Air Nigeria.

In a statement, Arik Air said there was no iota of truth in the claim that the airline was in merger talk with another national flag carrier in the country.

The statement said: "Our attention has been drawn to a publication in a national daily suggesting the merger of Arik Air with Air Nigeria to form a new national carrier.

"Arik Air will like to state categorically that there is no iota of truth in this story. The story is at best a figment of the writer’s imagination. While Arik Air appreciates Air Nigeria’s operations, the airline is not in talks with anyone on the merger of both airlines.

"For the avoidance of doubts, Arik Air is not contemplating merging with any airline in Nigeria now or in the foreseeable future."
