24 hours curfew in Kaduna

Kaduna (WorldStage Newsonline)-- Kaduna State Government has imposed a 24 hour curfew on the state, claiming the hijack of the ongoing protest over fuel subsidy removal by some people with different motives.

According to to the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the governor, Patric Yakowa, We have realised that the strike over the removal of subsidy has been hijacked by person other than those committed to the cause.

The demonstration which began yesterday peacefully, today turned violent. People were harassed, intimidated and installations vandalised.

He said in view of this, a 24 hour curfew had been imposed on the state.

Earlier, the Coalition of Civil Society, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the NBA in Kaduna State suspended street protest in the state in order to forestall the break down of law and order in the state.

The civil society organizations accused the government of attempting to deliberately cause crisis in the country so that security operatives could shoot protesting youths.
