The organisers of the much anticipated CyclingLagos 2018, on Friday said the giant motorcycle company, Simba Group, would provide free kits for over 1,000 cyclists that will participate in the grand finale.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the grand finale will now take place on Saturday after the initial postponement in August due to the closure of the Third Mainland Bridge, a route earmarked for the race.
The Media Officer for the tournament, Bamidele Adeleye, said in an interview with NAN that the ongoing accreditation for the race had witnessed large turnout of local and international cyclists.
“The turnout for the accreditation has been largely successful due to the influx of notable cyclists from Nigeria and beyond. “We can’t control or deny anyone the race, we will accommodate as many that passed the accreditation.
“The sport kits and jersey for the cyclists will be provided by our partner Simba Group which are of the required standards; we have made provisions for all the cyclists in terms of logistics.
“The unveiling jersey event will be done at the Teslim Balogun Stadium a day before the grand finale.
“This event, being supported by the Lagos State Sports Commission, is expected to feature cyclists in three categories including the Corporate Race, Amateur Race and the Celebrity Race,’’ he said.
Adeleye said that the race was expected to have in attendance the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and other dignitaries.
“’The celebrity Race is expected to feature the Minister of Transport, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi among other dignitaries.
“’CyclingLagos is also partnered by DSTV, Leadway Assurance, World Stage Ltd, Cool FM, Access Bank, JAC Motors, Simba Group, Eko Hotel & Suites and Addefort Ltd,’’ he said.
