WorldStage NewsOnline—-As part efforts to enhance workers’ productivity in the country, the Federal Government has called for cooperation with the private sector in promoting labour-friendly policies.
Mr William Nwankwo-Alo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, made the call in a statement by Mrs Iliya Rhoda, Assistant Director (Press) in the ministry on Thursday in Abuja.
The Permanent Secretary made the call when the leadership of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Director-General, Timothy Olawale, visited him in his office.
Nwankwo-Alo described NECA as a critical and dependable partner in maintaining industrial harmony in the nation’s work places.
The permanent secretary urged the association to join hands with the government to motivate workers for increased productivity.
“I also want to pledge government’s continued support to NECA, and also to appreciate the association’s outstanding performance in providing the platform for private sector employers to interact with government,’’ he said.
He, however, assured NECA that the government placed a lot of confidence in the private sector and also appreciated its support.
The permanent secretary was optimistic that government and NECA would continue to have a robust relationship, towards ensuring peace and tranquility in the work environment.
