Nigeria: Finance Minister Adeosun resigns over NYSC certificate scandal

WorldStage Newsonline– The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun  resignation as a member of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has been linked to the allegation that she forged her NYSC certificate NYSC certificate scandal, according to unfolding report on the development.

There has been a sustained controversy surrounding her NYSC certificate.

She was said to have tendered her resignation letter to the office of the Chief of Staff to the President.

A source in the presidency was quoted as saying that, “She considers her position no longer tenable in the cabinet. She also thinks she’ll be a liability to President Buhari’s re-election plans if she stays on, hence the resignation.”

She was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2015.

Before her appointment, Adeosun worked as Accounting Assistant at the British Telecom Company , London from 1989 to 1990 and Senior Audit Officer at Goodman Jones, London from 1996 to 2000.

Adeosun holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of East London and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Financial Management from the University of London.

Adeosun was also a Commissioner for Finance in Ogun between 2011 and 2015.
