WorldStage Newsonline– Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami has inaugurated the new governing board chairman of Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) while calling for unity among board members.
Speaking on Thursday in Abuja, at the inaugural ceremony of the new governing board Chairman of the commission, Prof. Adeolu Akande and a board member, Commissioner Uche Onwude, the minister told the entire board members that his expectations were high, adding that anything less than 99% performance would be a failure from the board of the commission
“Hit the ground running you have a huge task ahead of you,” he said.
Pantami, however told the new board members that the appointment should not be seen as a privilege, but as a responsibility, that the primary interest of the board should be the primary interest of Nigeria.
He further advised the board members not to interfere with the running of management of the commission, saying it is the responsibility of the management to run the day to day work, that “there should not be conflict, we should maintain our demarcations.”
In his remark, Prof. Akande the former board chairman of Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), expressed his appreciation to Mr. President for the appointment and pledged his commitment to the objectives of the mandate of the commission.
He said the board will achieve the objectives and its mandate, adding that the “NCC has a huge role to play majorly in the security of the country.
“I give you the commitment in NCC we will work in harmony.”
Meanwhile, NCC Executive Vice Chairman, Prof. Umaru Danbatta expressed his appreciation to Mr. President through the minister of communications and digital economy.
