Passenger plane, Boeing 737 crashes after take-off in Iran, killing 176 people

Passenger plane, Boeing 737 belonging to Ukrainian airliner has crashed soon after taking off from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini airport on Wednesday, killing 176 people.

The International Airline which crashed near the airport burst into flames, killing all 176 people aboard. Iranian TV said the crash was due to technical problems, few minutes later Ukrainian foreign ministry officials said it was due to engine failure.

Ukraine President has sent his condolences to the relative and friends of the passengers, “My sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of all passengers and crew,” Ukraine President Volodymyr Zolenskiy said in a statement.

The fire from the plane was so heavy that even emergency services could not do any rescue, “The fire is so heavy that we cannot do any rescue…we have 22 ambulances and a helicopter at the site,” Pirhossein Koulivand, head of Iran’s emergency services said.

The crashed plane in Iran was three years old and it is Boeing 737-NG, recall, the Boeing Inc. had grounded its 737 MAX fleet in March after two crashes that killed 346 people. Boeing spokesman said the company was aware of media reports of a plan crash in Iran and was gathering more information.
